Every year, the pre-Kindergarten children graduate from the preschool in a beautiful ceremony attended by their family and friends. It was customary to play a slideshow during the lunch that followed to showcase the enjoyment that was experienced over the course of the year. I, however, wanted to take this experience to a new level thus filming, producing and editing a 20+ minute short film entitled, The Siyyum (Hebrew word for “celebration”). I knew most of these children since they were infants, so we had a very close relationship where I could film and record audio from each child individually without making them feel uncomfortable. The idea was simple: shoot footage of each child doing an activity they loved at school, overlay audio of them introducing themselves (name, age, and what they want to be when the grow up), and have enough material to build a short film that could be enjoyed by everyone! I had to use every trick in the book to capture genuine smiles and laughter, but the result was a beautiful tribute to these incredible young children.
On this page, you will find the full-length video of The Siyyum along with assorted artwork and photos produced by myself.
