Several years ago, I found out that I had a “unique” talent to emulate other people’s voice. I could never sing as much as I had always dreamt, but if you had me listen to a person or character’s voice then there would be a good chance that I could perform a strikingly similar impression. As an actor for a brief time in a previous life, I always wished I could find a way to perform again even for the smallest of audiences. Well, Puppet Theatre ended up being the result and has been a mainstay at the Strauss ECE for over 6 years. I took some of my personal favorite children’s books and rewrote them into short plays that would be performed on a stage that I built for children ages one-five years old. I recorded all the voices except for the occasional guest (i.e., fellow teacher or my niece) who filled in for some of the female roles. I painted backdrops, created props, and recorded the entire show with the help of the host (Lionel the Lion) and two familiar characters who served as co-hosts (Elmo and Kermit the Frog).
On this page, you will find two promotional videos for the Puppet Theatre as well as three audio recordings from several of my favorite shows. All footage, audio, and assorted materials were produced by myself.
